CRE The Gathering

Where: Concordia University. Montreal, Canada

When: February 22-24, 2020

Why: Canadian Roots Exchange’s Gatherings are facilitated by youth, for youth. Through our Gatherings, we build open spaces for sharing between Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth. We encourage engagement in dialogue on the significance of solidarity and reconciliation. We work to challenge negative stereotypes that divide our communities.

Our Gatherings allow young people to develop and reinforce a network of youth working to promote respect and understanding between all peoples living in Canada.

We encourage you all to share your skills, knowledge and experiences in order to make this years’ program as rich as possible.

FAM in Montreal:

FAM mentors and facilitators, Jody Lerat and Chad Holowaty, attended CRE’s annual national conference where they hosted a workshop on the work of Future Artistic Minds. We revisited the Pilot Project themes with participants; voice, safety and representation paint clear pictures that there is still much work to be done to break down intersectional oppression in colonial spaces. At the same time, we shared FAM joy and the successes of the early artists while we were still at Mount Royal Collegiate and growing as a brand new collective. Watch the video below to see FAM in our early days.
